details

I try to think of clever or cute titles (for some reason I accidentally typed titties and I'll be honest I giggled...a lot) So.... I tried to think of a title for this but I got nothing. My instinct is to do it like school paper style. What I did on my Summer Vacation. All underlined and such. but alas I am no longer in 6th grade English. so I will not be doing that. anyways on with the show

Today, was one of those days that I love living in the South. Back home it is yucky outside and here it was sunny and mid to high 70's. With this wonderful weather, I was able to play outside with my monster. I love watching him play and just explore. It is so neat just to see him learn new things and just experience life for the first time.

Sometimes, I think as parents we forget that this is the first time they are doing these things. They are still learning and taking it all in. Back to today, he was just roaming around the back yard. Just exploring like little boys do. Then all the sudden he sat down and looked up. There was a flock of birds flying over. It wasn't geese or anything special just regular ole birds. They didn't even make any noise. He just noticed them. Something I probably would have never noticed or how he looks at grass. He just picks up on things that I pass by. The way he looks at the flowers and how pretty they are. He notices the majesty and awe in God's creation. He is realizing how wonderful all of these things are.

It is something that I never expected to learn being a mom. I knew I needed to take advantage my time with my child because it all goes too quick. I just never realized being a mom would teach me to pay attention to the small stuff. Notice the pretty flowers or the way the leaves turn in the wind. Notice the jets in the sky or the way cotton candy feels. Notice how enticing a Christmas tree really is or how awesome Woody is.

If you are a parent, Have you noticed this as well? Have you wanted to soak every little detail in?

Friday Again!!!

Wow! I can't believe that it is Friday again. That seems so crazy to me.

I hate that it seems like I'm only writing on Friday link up days. I want to do better than that. That'll be my November goal.

Well, this week it doesn't seem like a ton of crazy things happened.

1. We put up our Christmas Tree!!!
You know what really burns my biscuits is when people get their tinsel in a tangle because someone has the tree up early. I just don't get how me or any other person that has the tree up affects them? Ya know? Personally, if you are so worried about me and my family having the tree up in OUR home. Then frankly you have too much time on your hands. Get a hobby.

*oh can we mention that this tree is older than me. So that makes this tree 28 years old.
She looks pretty good for her age, huh?!*

2. I made a giant batch of beef vegetable soup. Probably enough to feed America. At least it seems that way. But it's super yummy and very healthy!!

3. I'm trying to eat healthy and somehow I had a cookie blackout. I made white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. I really don't even remember starting them. I was talking to Mo... Then I was putting dough on cookie sheets. Have I told you that they are my favorite cookies? Needless to say my healthy low-carb diet hasn't went very well. :/

4. I received my second VoxBox from Influenster! Full of goodies to try out. I'm still making my way through it. Have y'all heard of Influenster? It's completely free and you write reviews on products. Then sometimes companies send you products to test out and you tell them what you think. It's pretty awesome! You can sign up but it goes a ton quicker if you are invited. I actually have some invites left...so if you would like one leave me a comment with your email and I'll send it your way!!

5. I'm attending and helped very marginally with the planning of a baby shower tomorrow. I'm not making the diaper cake this time. It feels weird not to be doing that. I am helping with the games and decorations. I just hope mommy to be enjoys herself!!

I think that's all that has been going on. Hopefully more interesting stuff for next week.

Make it a great week y'all!

October Recap!

Hey Y'all! It's Friday! The first day of November! Yesterday was Halloween.

With all of this I am leading up to say ...

It's ....  CHRISTMAS TIME!!!! oh yeah! I am one of them!!

But, before I hop on to the Turkey Day/ Christmas Train express. I thought instead of doing just a weekly recap I will be doing some highlights of my month!!!

So here are 6 of my most favoritest things that happened last month! (Like my good English skills???)

1. I was able to go down and visit my bestie, Jennifer! We had tons of fun and while there I got to hold an alligator!!!

2. During this visit we made lots of trips to the beach. I got to be on the Gulf for a change.

3. A life changing event occurred while with Jennifer. I saw a real life Manatee family. IN THE WILD!!!! I love manatees! They are my favorite and I can't believe I saw a mommy, daddy and a freaking BABY manatee!!! So precious. It was sad though. You could see all the scars on their backs. :( people need to slow them boats down!!!

4. Mo and I were able to go out for appetizers and dessert date without the little man! Second time ever!! Last time was.... oh....8 months ago!! It was well over due and we had a fantastic time!!

5. We all went to Jacksonville and of course as soon as we get all our stuff to the beach. It starts to POUR! It stopped within 10 minutes but I was able to see double rainbows multiple times. That city sure has my heart. #ilovejax

6. It was so nice to have some "girl" time. This picture is right before our airboat tour. I had so much fun down there. I really wish we were able to spend time together more often! Hopefully one day soon we will live in the same state or even better the same city! A girl can dream, right?

So, that is my October Recap! There are so many more but at this moment in time that is what is sticking out to me!!!

This weekend will be the start of getting the house Holiday ready!! Bring on the Spiced Apple Chai Tea and Christmas Carols!!!

Let's Be Corny

So for some reason we had a huge surplus of Hot Dogs in our freezer. So what that mean to most people is lets get the grill out.

Not for us. Clearly we say "hey. wanna fry something?"
Yeah. We are really healthy folks... =/

So, we had fried chicken and corn dogs for dinner one night. Again super healthy. Mo, has his special recipe for Fried Chicken. He was busy tending to the chicken legs (Yeah they were all drumsticks too...)

I made a bee line to pinterest.(hey why don't you follow me. c'mon you know you want to =P)

I found this recipe for Homemade Corn Dogs!

It was easy peezy. I will say I did not have cornmeal. I just used a box of jiffy and regular milk.

Tip: Get your oil screaming hot. My first few corn dogs were pretty ugly because I put them into too soon. so yeah if you want pretty ones don't rush and get your oil HOT!

Finished Product! Yummy! Go make these! You'll thank me! :)

Song Memories

Isn't it funny when you hear a song and it brings you right back to a memory. It brings you right back to that time. You can see it, smell it... everything.

Well, I've had this thought that every once in awhile maybe once a week or twice a month something. I don't know yet. I would tell you a random song that I haven't heard in forever and the memory it evokes. Reasons would be that 1. It would get me to write more and on a more consistent basis. 2. It would get you to be able to know me a little better.

Random Song #1

Sex And Candy - Marcy Playground

Okay, I haven't heard this song in ages. My major memory of this song would be my mom and mamaw taking me to McAlpin's (Department Store) for back to school clothes. We walked in the junior department and this song was blaring. I just remember that I literally wanted to die right there of embarrassment. I could feel my blood dropping to my feet and somehow at the same time making my face bright red. I am sure they didn't even notice the song but as a young teenager and hearing the word sex on the radio with your mom and mamaw. Yikes. I believe I tried to escape and/or maybe hide in the clothes racks. Yes, I was very sheltered as a kid.

That seems so silly now.

For the next song I decided to ask my wonderful husband. Mostly, because I love to know his embarrassing stories. They make me giggle. It took a little work but I got this out of him.

Mo's Embarrassing Song Moment!

AC/DC- You Shook Me All Night Long

Mo: My very first CD was AC/DC Back in Black. So as a kid I would be blaring that CD. In the garage and playing basketball whatever. It was always on. Yeah, when I learned what the lyrics actually meant. I was so embarrassed and never wanted to play it around my mom.

So there you have it folks our embarrassing song memories. What are your embarrassing song memories?!

Being a mom is tough

You know what? I knew being a mom wasn't the easiest job before I became one. With the no sleep, cleaning up puke, no time for yourself thing. I knew that going into it. That's what they tell you.  I'm going to tell you what they don't tell you. It is no reason to change your mind about kids. Kids are great but they change everything.

I was always a generally pretty confident person. Not like I'm hot stuff confident. More of a fake it till you make it kind of confident. If I made a decision I stuck with it. Good or Bad. Confident, determined or stubborn are words I would use to describe myself pre-child. I definitely a 'come hell or high water' kinda girl.

Now, though is different. It all started when I saw these.

See, when I saw those two pink lines my world did not revolve around me anymore. It revolved around that little miracle. It started of small. Am I taking the right vitamins? Should I eat that? You know the normal pregnancy questions. Then my lil' monster was born.  It went to is he eating enough? Was his poop the right color? Is he warm? Is he cold?

Omg. I could go on and on.

I used to think of myself as weak because I didn't trust myself whatsoever. I realize though, that I don't think anyone that comes home with their first child knows exactly what they are doing or that they trusted themselves completely. I believe they would be lying.

So, that brings me to now. My lil' monster is one year old. I still don't trust myself. I am however better at listening to my gut. For example, yesterday. He had a fever. It was his first. I panicked. Nobody likes to see their child hurting. At noon it was 100.9 not super high but enough for my senses were tingling. By 7 it was 102.4. I had been giving him meds as well. Bells and whistles were going off. Everybody had a different opinion of what I should do. Bath or no bath. Keep him covered or sleep in only a diaper. Take him to the ER or not. Seriously it felt like a war zone in my head. Even after I made my decision of what I should do, I could feel other moms judging me for it because it wasn't how they would do it. Let me tell ya. That makes the self doubt so much harder. You know what though. I'm glad I listened to myself. We did not take him to the ER. I'm glad I didn't because you know why? At midnight his temp was back to 98.7.

What I'm trying to tell you. Is that with mommyhood you lose all sense of self assurance. You'll second guess every decision you make. You'll change your mind a half a dozen times. It's okay though. Jut trust your instincts. You are going to be fine and it's all worth it... That I can promise.

Oh MyLanta

Seriously.

I'm an idiot.

I guess I should have thought of this before but I, honest to God, just realized that people may think this blog is about postpartum depression. Not that there is anything wrong or shameful about that. I just meant it like what I'm thinking about. I guess I'm kinda ignorant for just realizing that.

Other news. We will be moving again. Not for awhile. It will easily have to wait till next year. I am excited.

A new town. A new state.

A Whole New World.

Enjoy. ;) ... So sue me that I still love Jessica & Nick. I mean don't get me wrong I'm glad they are both happy and such. I just thought they were adorable.

.:anyways:.

I am excited for new adventures. I do pray that everything does work out in our favor. I will let y'all know where we will be moving when things get a little bit more concrete.

Right now I am planning my Lil' man's birthday party. I can't believe he will be one this month! He is getting so big!! The theme is monster themed. I will be putting up pics from the party after the fact.

I have been doing craft projects like crazy trying to get the house ready for company! So once I have a sec to get caught up on pictures and stuff. You should be seeing quite a few crafty posts coming.

my take on it

This past week we rented two movies from RedBox.

Safe Haven

Warm Bodies

I will go ahead and say that I assumed I would like Safe Haven because it is a Nicholas Sparks book and I am weepy girl that loves that crap. Warm Bodies I wanted to see because it looked the perfect in between movie for boy and girl. KWIM?

I absolutely... LOVED them both!!! I'm not going to give anything away if you haven't seen them but seriously I loved them. I watched them both twice before returning them. I will be buying both of them. Mo enjoyed both of them as well. Also, I should put out there that we are NOT zombie people. We don't have cable or anything. This was the first zombie movie we have seen. It was way better than I expected. Is it just me but does the guy from Warm Bodies look like Tom Cruise to you? I know that is not him but they look similar.

Nicholas Hoult & Tom Cruise.

Were you aware that both of them are books? I knew Safe Haven was but I had no idea about Warm Bodies. I guess I have two new books on my reading list!!!

Have you seen these movies? Did you like them? Have you read the books?
